Alicia Tibbs

I was raised on the Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Reservation lines outside of Timber Lake, SD on my family's farm. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Human Services and Sociology from Black Hills State University in 2009. I began my career in Child and Protection Services in Eagle Butte, SD for five years before moving back out to where my heart is in the Black Hills. From there I transitioned into working with adolescents in a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility where I was able to work directly with the youth in finding their reason why and exploring wonderful unique things about them despite the trauma they have endured.

While working there I furthered my education and received my Master's of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy through Northcentral University and graduated this past June. I am working towards full licensure under supervision with Rising Hope and am anxious to gain more skills and knowledge.

I have had experience working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, abuse, self-esteem issues, ADHD, attachment issues, and various other mental disorders along with many different family dynamics. I typically utilize Solution Focused Therapy as I like to utilize the strengths we already have and build on those strengths as we work together in managing the troubles clients may be currently experiencing. Along with Solution Focused Therapy I am also trained in Phase I and Phase II of Brainspotting. Brainspotting is a unique way to help as we go through the healing process and work through traumas that typical talk therapy is hard to do.

When not working you can find me following myself and my husband following our two children around with the many different sport activities they are in. Along with that, I enjoy reading, spending time outside, traveling, and watching football on Sundays with my family.
