Advocating for mental health has always been a passion of mine, and becoming a counselor was my next big step to helping. My passion for mental health stems from a deep-seated desire to contribute positively to society by helping individuals navigate their inner worlds, build resilience, and unlock their potential. I am inspired by the resilience and strength I see in those who courageously confront their mental health concerns and work toward healing and growth. Growing up in small town Nebraska, I strive to draw upon my small-town roots to create a safe and nurturing space for my clients. I approach my work with a down-to-earth authenticity and a deep understanding of the unique challenges that individuals from small communities may face. Whether it's navigating familial expectations, grappling with the pressures of close-knit social dynamics, or simply longing for a sense of belonging, I am there to offer support, guidance, and hope.

After leaving my small community of Clearwater, Nebraska, I went on to get my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology with a Mental Health Concentration from the University of Sioux Falls. This further grew my passion for mental health advocacy, and I began to work at Avera Behavioral Health on the adolescent and child units while working towards my master's degree. I am projected to graduate in December of 2024 from South Dakota State University with my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Embarking on the journey of becoming a counselor wasn't just a professional endeavor for me; it was a deeply personal and transformative experience that shaped me into a better person in countless ways.

As a counselor, I view theoretical approaches not as rigid frameworks, but as versatile tools that I can adapt and integrate to best meet the unique needs of each client. I have experience with cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy. Ultimately, my approach to counseling is eclectic and integrative, drawing from a range of theoretical perspectives to create a tailored and collaborative therapeutic experience for each client. By honoring the unique strengths, values, and experiences of each individual, I strive to support them in achieving their goals, fostering personal growth, and leading more fulfilling lives. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé and my dog, Joey. I cherish time with family and friends, and I never shy away from an adventure!
