“What is the bravest thing you've ever said? asked the boy. 'Help,' said the horse. 'Asking for help isn't giving up,' said the horse. 'It's refusing to give up.”

― Charlie Mackesy, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

Personal and professional experiences have influenced and developed my passion in becoming a clinical social worker. I started my career with Rising Hope Counseling in 2019, starting off in Pierre and eventually opening our office in Chamberlain. I was born and raised in South Dakota. I have lived all over the United States; however, my heart has been drawn back to "home" more than once. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of South Dakota and a Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Kansas.

I strive to provide a healing, strengths-based approach through empowerment, support, and evidence-based practice. Person-centered intervention allows for the "whole" person to be seen, heard, and valued; mind, body, and spirit. No one goes through life without hardships. Some of these traumas shake our spirit and they can break our hearts.

Over the past several years, I have been honored to work on various Reservations in South Dakota. I have an extensive history in working with survivors of rape, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and emotional abuse. What happens to us in childhood shapes us; however, it does not need to define us. Depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, bullying, grief and loss, anger management, and ADHD are my other arenas of clinical-focus.

Outside of my career, I enjoy spending time with those I love, creating art, hiking, traveling, and spending time in nature. Adventure, curiosity, and learning are important aspects of my life.
